Ms. Shaw was born and raised in New York City. After graduating cum laude from Brooklyn College, CUNY, Ms. Shaw attended Fordham University School of Law and the Georgetown University Law Center, earning her Juris Doctor degree from Fordham in 1979.
After practicing administrative, art, and tax law in Washington, D.C., Ms. Shaw joined the Law Department of PPG Industries, Inc., a Fortune 100 Company, where she served as Counsel to the Credit and Collections Department and to the Art Acquisition Committee (acquiring art for the newly-constructed World Headquarters complex in Pittsburgh, PA), eventually becoming Counsel to the Fiberglass Division. After taking some time off to raise her son, Ms. Shaw joined the Law Offices of Michael R. Freed, P.A., where she focused on commercial litigation in state and federal courts, and handled sophisticated business transactions, largely in the printing industry. In 1998, Ms. Shaw established her own practice in South Florida, where she emphasized drafting and negotiating commercial transactions, including franchise acquisitions, residential and commercial real property purchase, construction, and leasehold transactions, entertainment law, and trademark and copyright matters. As a Certified Circuit Civil, County, and Family Law Mediator and Qualified Arbitrator, Ms. Shaw dedicates a substantial portion of her time to practicing, teaching, and advocating alternative dispute resolution and is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Assistant Trainer in both Circuit Civil and Family Law mediation. Consistent with her dispute resolution practice, Ms. Shaw is an experienced collaborative family law attorney, and has handled a wide range of domestic matters.
